Top Biogas Young Talent Award

Young professionals are not only calling for climate action; they are helping deliver it.

Across Europe, emerging talent is bringing fresh thinking, technical ambition and entrepreneurial energy to the biogas and biomethane sector.

The Top Biogas Young Talent Award recognises an outstanding young individual who is actively contributing to the scale-up, visibility or innovation of biogas and biomethane in Europe. This award celebrates future leaders who are already making a measurable impact on the renewable gas sector and helping accelerate the EU’s transition towards a climate-neutral economy.

  • Who can apply?

Any eligible individual aged 18 to 35 who is active in the renewable gas sector and has demonstrated leadership, initiative or significant contribution to a project, campaign, research activity, business development initiative, technical innovation or advocacy effort supporting the growth of biogas and biomethane in Europe.

Biogas She Leads Award

A successful energy transition depends on using the full range of talent available to our sector. Greater diversity strengthens innovation, decision-making and resilience, and women are already playing a decisive role in building Europe’s renewable gas future.

The She Leads Award recognises an outstanding woman whose work is advancing the biogases sector while helping make the industry more diverse, inclusive and future-ready. This award gives visibility to women who are leading by example, breaking barriers and contributing to a secure, affordable and sustainable energy system for Europe.

  • Who can apply?

Any eligible individual who identifies as a woman and is professionally active in the biogases sector.

Efficiency & Sustainability Champion Award

Improving the efficiency and sustainability of biogas and biomethane production is essential to strengthening the sector’s competitiveness, profitability and climate impact. Innovation in plant design, process optimisation, resource use, emissions reduction and circularity can help the industry produce more renewable energy with fewer inputs and lower environmental impact.

The Efficiency Champion Award recognises a biogas or biomethane plant, company or technology provider that has successfully implemented an innovative solution to improve operational efficiency, sustainability or overall plant performance. The award highlights practical, measurable improvements that go beyond standard operation and demonstrate the future of smarter, cleaner and more resilient renewable gas production.

  • Who can apply?

Any eligible company, plant operator, project developer or technology provider active in Europe that has implemented an innovative technology, process, operational model or combination of techniques that improves the efficiency and/or sustainability of biogas or biomethane production.

How to apply

1. Submit your application: Candidates should fill out the online application form by 31 July 2026. Applications should include all requested information and supporting materials demonstrating the candidate’s eligibility, achievements and impact in the selected award category.

2. Applications review: All eligible applications will be reviewed in September 2026 by an independent expert jury. The jury will assess submissions according to the award criteria and select the top finalists in each category.

  • By submitting your application, you acknowledge and accept the decisions and criteria set by the jury—a panel of experts drawn from independent organizations, entirely separate from the EBA Secretariat. Shortlisted candidates will be required to register and attend the conference in Brussels in order to participate in the final election process

3. Public voting and finalist campaign: The finalists selected by the jury will be announced ahead of the European Biogas Conference. Once the public voting period opens, each finalist may run a short campaign to encourage support, including through social media, professional networks and conference-related communications.

  • Public voting will remain open before the conference and will close at the end of the first day of the European Biogas Conference, on Tuesday, 13 October 2026. This will allow finalists to engage with the wider biogas community before and during the opening day of the event.

4. Winner announcement and award ceremony: The winners will be announced during the EBA Awards Ceremony, taking place on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, the second day of the European Biogas Conference.
