Cecilia Carballo de la Riva
Cecilia Carballo de la Riva brings more than 30 years of experience in environmental protection, climate transition and social development to the European biomethane sector.
At Biorig, she has been instrumental in embedding sustainability into business strategy, project development and governance. Her approach goes beyond environmental performance to address the relationship between biomethane projects and the rural communities that host them.
Among the initiatives she has championed are Biorig’s Green Dialogue Roundtables, designed to give municipalities and residents an ongoing role in monitoring commitments, assessing project performance and identifying local social and environmental initiatives. She has also promoted local employment and training, reinvestment in host communities and support for vulnerable groups.
Her work complements Biorig’s circular model of transforming agricultural and livestock residues into biomethane, organic fertiliser and biogenic CO₂, helping connect industrial development with local accountability and a just transition.
Why vote for Cecilia? Because she demonstrates how sustainability leadership can strengthen both the competitiveness and legitimacy of biomethane — making community participation, environmental responsibility and social value integral to the sector’s growth.
