German Biogas Training Network – Finalist Award Safety First

In 2014, several key organizations in the biogas industry, including the German Biogas Association, the German Association for Water Management, Waste Water and Waste, and the German Gas and Water Association together with the Workers' compensation Board`s and Educational institutions, founded the German Training Network Biogas. Their goal was to standardize and improve training for biogas plant operators across Germany. With the introduction of the TRGS 529 safety regulation in 2015, safety training became mandatory for all operators.

Currently, 14 educational institutions provide certified training, including online courses since 2019. Participants receive a certificate upon completing the courses, overseen by the German Biogas Association.
