Daniel Mes

Member of the Task Force on the EU’s Future Competitiveness , European Commission

Daniel started his Commission career at its Competition Department, working on energy and digital technology files. He was a speechwriter to European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager. He then spent five years in the Cabinets of Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans and Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra, working on energy, industry and transport files and the foundations of the Clean Industrial Deal. After his Cabinet career, he became a Member of President Von Der Leyen’s Taskforce for the EU’s Future Competitiveness. Within the Taskforce, he focuses amongst others on delivery of the Clean Industrial Deal. Mes is a lawyer and journalist by training.
