Biolectric
Biolectric has introduced the world’s most affordable biomethane installation, marking a milestone for the biogas industry and a breakthrough in scaling green gas across Europe. Traditionally, biomethane production has been inaccessible for farmers relying solely on their own manure, due to high investment thresholds and complex permitting. Biolectric has broken that barrier, unlocking the potential of thousands of European producers.
Through reverse engineering, the company developed a compact, fully integrated system tailored to on-farm manure. Housed in a repurposed 20-foot container, the installation features Biolectric’s own carbon filter, custom PLC, and a cooling unit inspired by beer systems. This clever design has cut investment costs by 50%, making biomethane production viable for mid-sized dairy and pig farms, while cluster models connected by biogas pipelines also enable participation from smaller farms.
Simplicity and automation are at the core of the system, which is plug-and-play and requires minimal daily input. Delivering up to 82% GHG reduction without external substrates, transport, or co-feedstocks, the solution avoids typical NIMBY concerns and ensures broad acceptance.
With this innovation, Biolectric has tackled three of the sector’s main challenges — affordability, feedstock security, and social acceptance — and turned manure into a decentralised, grid-ready energy solution: clean, constant, and close to home.
