Meet the winners of the Inspiration Challenge 2024
The finalists of the EBA Inspiration Challenge were ready to set and transform the biogas sector with their cutting-edge innovations at the European Biogas Conference 2024. Six game-changing companies pitched their ideas, and the audience selected the most inspiring one.
The finalists:
- NPHarvest: Efficiently removes and recovers nitrates and phosphates from liquid digestate, offering the most cost-effective nutrient recovery method globally.
- SixRing Inc.: Pioneers an innovative biomass treatment process that boosts methane output by up to 85% using biodegradable cellulosic fibers. Their versatile, cost-effective technology enhances biogas production without significant capital investment.
- PRODEVAL: Launching Europe’s first industrial production line for biogas upgrading systems and CO₂ liquefiers in southern France. This project supports energy independence, decarbonisation, and reindustrialisation on a global scale.
- ColdSpark by SEID AS: Produces low-carbon hydrogen and high-purity carbon using a novel plasma-based process powered by renewable electricity. By converting renewable methane or biogas, it eliminates CO2 emissions, and creates valuable carbon for various industries.
- Salamandre by Storengy - ENGIE: Combines gasification and methanation to convert waste into shipping fuel. A 20-year Biomethane Carbon Fuel supply agreement for maritime shipping showcases their commitment to the circular economy.
- VINCI Energies: A new zero-emissions system at a biomethane injection station to address methane emissions, reducing GHG emissions by 50 tons of CO₂ equivalent per station. This innovative solution meets the European Parliament’s 2024 methane reduction laws.
And the winner was... NPHarvest!
