Anita Simon

Deputy CEO, Sustainability and Circular Economy , ALTEO

Anita Simon joined ALTEO in 2019 and, since 2022, has served as Deputy CEO for Sustainability and Circular Economy. Under her leadership, the company’s Nagykőrös biogas plant was transformed into a national benchmark, in both technical performance and systemic integration.
Anita built a multi-stakeholder input ecosystem involving food manufacturers, HoReCa partners, logistics providers, and municipalities. This coordinated supply chain ensures that organic waste and by-products — both packaged and unpackaged — are collected, stabilised, and redirected into energy use, enabling 99% plant availability.
Beyond plant-level results, Anita introduced a new governance model for biogas input sourcing and utilisation in Hungary. Her integrated approach — combining logistics, waste regulation, feedstock commerce and circularity — provides a scalable, replicable framework. She is also a constant contributor to national policy consultations aiming to reach Hungary’s 2030 target of 600 million cubic metres of biogas production, supporting energy mix diversification and reducing import dependency.
She co-founded the National Biogas–Biomethane Industry Association and is an active board member. At EU level, she is the only Hungarian member of the EIB’s Women Climate Leaders Network, where she advocates for financing strategies tailored to the realities of Central and Eastern Europe.
Her achievement is not a single innovation, but a sectoral transformation, bridging waste and energy, policy and practice, local action and European ambition.
