Sebastien de Baere

Sébastien de Baere has served as General Director of Autoworld, the National Motor Museum in Brussels, since 2011. Born in 1978 in Ghent, Belgium, he is married to Danka Klinkenberg and is the proud father of two children, Louis (7) and Giulia (5). He earned a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management from Erasmus University College in Brussels (2001), followed by a Master’s degree in Event Management from Thomas More University of Applied Sciences in Mechelen (2003). Since 2013, Mr. de Baere has been a board member of the Council of Brussels Museums. He is also the initiator and driving force behind the European National Motor Museums project, launched in 2015. Under his leadership, Autoworld has significantly expanded its cultural and educational role, offering a wide range of exhibitions and events covering diverse automotive themes. From classic motorcycles and vintage automobiles to futuristic concept cars, the museum explores the evolution of mobility in all its forms. Mr. de Baere has also overseen the development of engaging educational programs and international outreach initiatives that bring the museum’s renowned collection to broader audiences. The results speak for themselves: Autoworld welcomed 245.000 visitors in 2024, a figure that reflects a threefold increase in attendance since he took the helm in 2011.
